Phillips Ambassadors

Posted on November 11, 2009

I had the honor of photographing the spring 2010 Phillips Ambassadors for an announcement ad in The Daily Tar Heel.  These five undergrads took a break from being awesome (and well…sleeping) to meet me for an 8am photo shoot in the Forest Theater.  Each of these exceptional students earned a scholarship to study abroad in Asia where they will represent The University of North Carolina.

L to R: Niraj Shah, Katherine Knish, Charles McLaurin, Gregory Randolph, and Benjamin Wang.

Speaking with these driven students reminded me how much I enjoyed my study abroad opportunity.  When I was applying to college, my sister told me that her biggest regret after graduating from Ithaca College was that she did not take the opportunity to study abroad.  That’s why I jumped at the chance to go to Thailand with Carolina Photojournalism in the summer of 2008.  Being a member of the Andaman Rising team was hands down the best experience of my college career.  I told Niraj, the Phillips Ambassador traveling to Bangkok, that I am so jealous of his upcoming trip!

Congratulations Niraj, Katie, Charles, Greg, and Ben!  It was a pleasure to meet you all and I hope your study abroad experiences will be as rewarding as mine!
