Documenting Pets and Their People since 2007

NYC Pet Photographer offers documentary-style family photo sessions, Pop Up Pet Portrait Studio events, custom-designed albums and wall art, and commercial/event photography services.

Stacey Axelrod (aka NYC Pet Photographer) has been photographing pets since 2007 when she decided to use her Photojournalism degree to help promote adoptable dogs at her local animal shelter.

Since then, she has photographed thousands of pets and their people throughout the NYC area and beyond.

Before starting her own business in 2018, Stacey worked as the Staff Photographer for the ASPCA and Best Friends Animal Society. Today she continues her work in the animal rescue world as a volunteer photographer for local rescue organizations and as a member of the Steering Committee for Foster Dogs, Inc. She is also working on a documentary project, Why We Foster, which tells the stories of adoptable pets and the people who foster them.

Stacey lives in Brooklyn with her husband Jon (who often assists on photo sessions!), her anxious-but-sweet NYC rescue dog Escher, and two very different cats, Atlas and Lola. None of the pets actually like each other; they simply co-exist and entertain everyone with their Animal Planet style antics.
